Office Practice Nurse
Margaret Bediones, BSN, RN

I am a nurse with more than 35 years of experience in healthcare. I am an office practice nurse at the Ralph Lauren Center, which is part of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). I also help out in the chemotherapy unit providing chemotherapy to people diagnosed with breast cancer, colorectal cancer and genitourinary cancers, as part of their treatment.

I am involved in community outreach and actively participate in MSK’s health and wellness events. I enjoy talking to people during these events and giving them information about the importance of cancer screening.

I grew up in the Philippines, where healthcare is not easily accessible. This makes me passionate about working with communities who may lack awareness about the resources available to them for cancer screening and prevention.

Cancer screening can save lives, and I work to educate people about the importance of screening. It feels rewarding when I see people come to our center to schedule a mammogram, prostate cancer screening, or colon cancer screening because of my efforts.

I became a nurse because of my own family members’ experiences with cancer. I saw firsthand how overwhelming and difficult a cancer diagnosis can be for a person and their family. This is why I treat all my patients like my own family. I listen to their concerns and questions, provide support, and let them know that I am there for them.

Outside of work, I love to cook and try different cuisines. New York is such a diverse population, and I enjoy learning more about other cultures through their food.
