Cell Metabolism

Overview

This core was founded using philanthropic funding (2013-2019) and is motivated by a maturation in the technologies with which to interrogate cellular metabolism, growing expertise within the group, increasing demand for metabolomic analyses among investigators, and the need to incorporate this key aspect of cancer biology into the Center’s strategic framework for leading pioneering research. The laboratory operates a technology platform that is being leveraged by basic, translational, and clinical research groups across MSK. The Core provides a reservoir of knowledge in the development and implementation of cutting-edge analytical strategies with experienced scientific staff who assist in leveraging these analytical capabilities. The Core offers routine metabolomic and lipidomic profiling, provides advice on study design, sample preparation, and the choice of experimental approaches. The Core also assists extensively with data analysis and interpretation. Since 2020, the Core Director has also served as the Program co-Director for an NIH R25 Research Education Program that provides training in current metabolomics and lipidomics strategies for trainees at MSK and neighboring NYC metro area institutions.
