Dr. Tracy-Ann Moo treats breast cancer at MSK Nassau, specializing in lumpectomy and nipple-sparing mastectomy with a focus on less invasive surgery and patient support.
When I was in high school, I helped take care of my grandmother – an experience that shaped my understanding of what it means to support someone emotionally and physically through a serious diagnosis.
Hi, I'm Dr. Tracy-Ann Moo, a breast surgeon with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Nassau.
I realize how scary a breast cancer diagnosis can be. I promise I will take as much time as you need to explain your diagnosis clearly and answer all of your questions. It’s important that I understand who you are and what’s going on in your life, so we can create a care plan that’s right for you.
There’s so much hopeful news in breast cancer care. The prognosis for patients continues to improve thanks to new therapies and surgical approaches, many of them researched and developed right here at MSK.
Our experience treating thousands of patients every year demonstrates that in most cases, a full mastectomy is not necessary. The majority of women do just as well with a lumpectomy, a less invasive surgery that removes only the tumor and preserves the breast. The recovery can be faster, and the outcomes can be just as successful. If a patient does need a mastectomy, I often use a technique that spares the nipple.
Our goal is to do everything possible to treat your cancer successfully while making you feel confident both physically and emotionally.
As a wife, mother and granddaughter, I know you want to get back to the people and the routines that you love. Together, we’ll do everything we can to get you there.
