In this study, researchers are assessing the safety and effectiveness of using the drug ruxolitinib in patients with T-cell lymphoma or natural killer (NK)-cell lymphoma that has come back or continued to grow despite prior treatment. Ruxolitinib is already approved for treating a bone marrow disease called myelofibrosis. It works by inhibiting a protein called JAK, which works with another protein called STAT to promote the growth of many T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas. By blocking JAK, ruxolitinib may cause lymphomas to shrink.
Women with a mutation in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 genes are at increased risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. However, the cancer risk estimates for these gene mutations are currently wide-ranging and non-specific. A new form of genetic testing, called "genetic risk modifier testing," may give women with BRCA1/2 gene mutations more specific estimates of their risk of developing breast cancer.
Deficient mismatch repair (dMMR) happens when a cell becomes unable to repair mistakes that happen during the normal process of cell division. Standard treatments for early-stage rectal cancer include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. In this study, researchers are assessing the safety and effectiveness of giving the investigational immunotherapy dostarlimab first in people with locally advanced mismatch repair-deficient rectal cancer. Doctors will then evaluate patients' response to treatment before considering standard chemoradiation and/or surgery. Patients whose tumors respond completely to dostarlimab alone can be followed with close surveillance and no surgery.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of partial breast radiation therapy given over a three-day period (three weekdays in a row) in women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) or early-stage invasive breast cancer after lumpectomy. Women who are not in a research study usually receive radiation therapy to the whole breast over three weeks or receive partial breast irradiation over a five- to ten-day period.
This study aims to obtain a better understanding of the genetic causes of Hodgkin's disease (a kind of lymphoma) and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, as well as multiple myeloma, leukemia, and related diseases. Together these diseases are referred to as "lymphoproliferative disorders."
Inotuzumab ozogamicin is a drug used to treat adults with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) that has come back or continued to grow despite prior therapy. In this study, researchers are evaluating its use in children and young adults with recurrent or persistent B-cell ALL.
The genetic and biochemical makeup of a tumor influences its aggressiveness and the choice of the most appropriate therapy. The purpose of this research study is to determine the genetic and biochemical makeup of neuroblastic tumors, including neuroblastoma, ganglioneuroblastoma, ganglioneuroma, and paraganglioma. These research studies will include analysis of substances called markers that exist on the surface of cancer cells; cytogenetic studies; the identification of genes related to the development of these cancers and to tumor growth; and studies of tumor growth in test tubes. Patients' blood and bone marrow will also be tested for the presence of tumor cells or leukemia cells.
