For Rotations to MSK
Clinical Rotation Information
Residents and fellows wishing to engage in a clinical rotation at MSK should begin by contacting the GME Coordinator and/or Program Director associated with the training program they are interested rotating with. Contact information can be found by on the department’s education and training webpage or by accessing the Fellowship and Residency program listings at the top of this webpage. General questions can be directed to the GME Office at 212-639-6788.
Program Letters of Agreement
A Program Letter of Agreement (PLA) must be executed between MSK and any institution sending residents/fellows to MSK for a rotation. PLAs are needed for all residents rotating at MSK as well as for those rotations where MSK trainees rotate elsewhere. Residents seeking to rotate at MSK should coordinate with their home program’s GME Coordinator. The GME Program Coordinator at the resident’s home institution will work directly with the MSK GME Program Coordinator responsible for supporting the MSK program they wish to rotate with. The MSK Program Coordinator will provide an MSK PLA template to be used for all in-rotations.
Since PLAs are agreements between the Sponsoring (residents home institution) and Participating (MSK) institutions, it’s typical that each institution’s legal counsel will review. The legal review process may take weeks or months to complete, so residents wishing to rotate should begin planning their rotation a minimum of six months in advance of their preferred start date.
Under no circumstances should the prospective rotating resident contact MSK Counsel’s Office to discuss or inquire about the status of a PLA.
