Get to Know Me

As a gynecologic surgeon, I have special training in the surgical treatment for people with different types of gynecologic cancers. This includes:

I am experienced in performing a variety of surgeries to treat gynecologic cancers. This includes minimally invasive approaches like laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery, that help us more precisely remove cancer with shorter recovery times. I often perform these procedures with sentinel lymph node mapping. This process allows us to take out only select lymph nodes, leading to a decreased risk for side effects while still obtaining important information that affects treatment decisions.

I also perform open surgeries, including extensive cytoreductive surgery, for all gynecologic cancers. We use cytoreductive surgery to remove as much cancerous tissue in a person’s abdomen as possible, in one procedure.

Every cancer journey is unique, and the surgical treatment needed for gynecologic cancers is different for each person. I take deep pride in providing compassionate care that is tailored to each person’s needs and which is based on actual data.

At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), I see patients at MSK Commack and MSK Nassau locations on Long Island. I perform surgery at Memorial Hospital and at the Josie Robertson Surgery Center in Manhattan.

At every step of the way, you will be part of an excellent team at MSK that includes surgeons, nurses, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, operating room staff, and more.

I have a strong interest in further developing surgical techniques to improve our ability to treat advanced ovarian cancer. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a technique that bathes the inside lining of the abdomen with heated chemotherapy after surgery   to treat microscopic ovarian cancer. I have participated in clinical trials using HIPEC, presented our research at national and international meetings, and hope to further understand how HIPEC can be used to treat patients with advanced ovarian cancer.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring Manhattan with my husband and our dog.  I play the violin, and as classically trained musicians, my husband and I love seeing concerts and Broadway shows. I am also running the New York City Marathon as part of Fred’s Team to raise money for cancer research at MSK. If you would like to donate or learn more about Fred’s Team, please visit my page.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a gynecologic (GY-neh-kuh-LAH-jik) surgeon, which is a doctor with special training in surgery on the female reproductive system. This includes the cervix, endometrium, fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, and vagina.
