I am a physician assistant with over 9 years of experience in primary care, urgent care, and blood cancers such as leukemia. At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), I support people with leukemia. I see patients at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at MSK and at Memorial Hospital.
In my role as an advanced practice provider, I lead the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Active Surveillance Program and the acute leukemia survivorship program (non-transplanted). When I meet with a patient, I take the time to address any concerns or questions they have about the leukemia diagnosis and the impact it may have on their life. The questions that I most commonly hear from the people in my care include:
- What is leukemia?
- What will my life look like while on treatment?
- How will this impact my job or my family?
I chose a career in healthcare because I believe patients deserve compassionate care and a provider who is willing to help them navigate the diagnosis, providing reassurance and empowerment at every turn. When I work with patients, I view their life circumstances and how it interacts with the care they need.
In addition to caring for patients, I play an active role in MSK’s efforts to increase diversity in our recruitment and retention. I often volunteer to speak about leukemia to patients and other providers.
When I am not working, I enjoy working with a health ministry in Jersey City to help provide care to the underserved community of Greenville. As the founder of this ministry, I am passionate about offering education and resources where they may be lacking. I most enjoy spending time with my family from quiet nights to traveling around the world.
