Associate Director, Advanced Practice Providers; Inpatient, Division of Hematologic Malignancies
Catherine A. Featherstone

I am a board-certified nurse practitioner with more than 35 years of healthcare experience. My biggest influence has always been my mother, who was a nursing assistant in a community nursing home throughout my childhood and teenage years. I saw firsthand how hard she worked and how much she cared for the residents as individuals. It was never “just a job” for my mom. I strive to bring the same level of caring and support to those I treat and their families.

My clinical focus is on adults with blood cancers who are receiving treatment with stem cell transplants and CAR T cell therapies. (Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy is an approach that uses a patient’s own immune cells to fight cancer.)

Since 2012, I have served in multiple administrative roles. Currently, I manage the nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) that work on the inpatient Hematologic Malignancy Services. I work closely with the NPs/PAs, doctors and nurses to streamline care and make the process as smooth as possible for patients being treated on these services.

I am enthusiastic about being a life-long learner. Reading journals, attending conferences, and keeping up to date on advances in transplant and CAR T therapies. I also enjoy mentoring staff to help them grow their clinical and leadership skills. Supporting new team members as they build their career is something I find rewarding and meaningful.

When I am not at work, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my husband and two daughters.
