Osteoporosis: How to Build Bones with Exercise and Nutrition

Share

Osteoporosis is a condition in which reduced bone density compromises bone strength. Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and hormonal therapy can lead to bone loss in people with cancer. This bone loss may increase the risk of fractures. Many women and men over the age of 50 may have osteoporosis-related fractures in areas including the hip, spine, or wrist. Research shows that weight bearing exercises and proper nutrition may modify the risk of osteoporosis. In this workshop, an MSK physician assistant and an MSK fitness instructor will discuss how to improve bone health through diet and resistance training exercises.
