Applicants must develop a one-year pilot study in the area of cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or outcomes in one of the following cancers: breast, cervical or colorectal. This project must be carried out in the applicant’s home country. The aim of the project should be to develop data to aid in applying for additional larger grants in the future. An award will be paid directly to the individual physician or research assistant and must be used only for pre-approved, budgeted costs.

African Research Group in Oncology (ARGO) is the first National Cancer Institute approved Colorectal Consortium in Africa established in 2013. The consortium was jointly established by Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex in Nigeria and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

To qualify for this pilot grant, applicants must:

  1. Must be African citizens
  2. Currently reside in African country
  3. Hold a position in one of the above mentioned ARGO institutions or other MSK-GCDI African collaborating sites
  4. Demonstrate an interest in improving cancer management in their home country
