Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) today announced a $50 million gift from Jane and Daniel Och to advance MSK’s cutting-edge patient-care and research. The majority of this gift will go towards supporting the development of MSK’s state-of-the-art cancer care facility, The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In recognition of the Ochs’ dedication to advancing innovation in patient care at MSK, the lobby of The Griffin Pavilion building will be named after Jane and Daniel Och.

“Jane and Dan share our commitment to MSK’s mission of ending cancer for life, and with their support they are helping us achieve it,” said Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, MSK’s President and CEO. “We are deeply grateful for their partnership as MSK evolves to meet the growing needs of people with cancer in our community and around the world.”

The Jane and Daniel Och Lobby will be the first point of contact for all patients and visitors in The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at MSK, which will be located on York Avenue between East 66th and East 67th streets. Surrounded by green space and infused with natural light, the Jane and Daniel Och Lobby will provide an immediate respite from the bustle of the city. Recognizing that environment sets the stage for the experience to follow, MSK has designed the lobby to offer visitors a warm, highly personalized welcome and a smooth transition to wherever they need to be within the building.

“This is an exciting and important time in cancer research and care,” said Daniel Och, a member of MSK’s Board of Trustees. “Jane and I are proud to support MSK in creating a place where patients and families will not only receive world-class treatment but also find hope and healing in a setting designed for the needs of the 21st century.”

As the incidence of cancer continues to rise across the globe, The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at MSK will expand MSK’s capacity to serve New Yorkers as well as people who travel to the center for lifesaving care. The building will be equipped with advanced technology to care for patients, including leading-edge robotics, enhanced operating and procedure suites, and a digital infrastructure to streamline and facilitate patient care and communication.

Innovating in care delivery is just one of the major strategic initiatives supported by “The MSK Campaign: Leading Science.
