Turkey Sage Meatloaf

This meatloaf is much lower in saturated fat and calories than traditional recipes but still delicious.

Turkey meatloaf is a great choice if you’re looking to keep calories in check and your heart healthy. Shown here with a side of ginger sweet potato slices.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon grapeseed oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 tablespoon garlic, chopped
½ cup Italian parsley, chopped
3 tablespoons sage, chopped
3 pounds lean ground turkey
2 eggs
1 tablespoon salt
Black pepper to taste
1 ⅓ cups panko bread crumbs
16 ounces low-sodium gravy of choice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Heat oil in a large frying pan. Add onion, celery, and garlic. Cook over medium heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until mixture is soft but not browned.
  3. Remove pan from heat and let cool.
  4. Transfer mixture to an extra-large bowl. Stir in parsley and sage. Add ground turkey, eggs, salt, pepper, and panko bread crumbs and mix to combine.
  5. Place mixture in baking dish. Form into a loaf with wet hands. Bake 60 to 65 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. Serve with warm gravy.
