I am an Associate Attending Physicist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Basking Ridge in New Jersey. I have been working as a clinical medical physicist since 2009 and have experience with state-of-the-art radiation treatments using a linear accelerator, proton beam therapy, TomoTherapy, CyberKnife, Gamma Knife, and brachytherapy. I provide clinical medical physics services such as initial and weekly patient treatment chart review, monthly/annual consistency check of treatment machines and CT simulator, professional consultation, and coverage for brachytherapy. I also lead the clinical commissioning of new treatment machines and software.

I have a great interest in using computers in radiation therapy, especially in automation and improvement of clinical workflow, and I have developed many useful clinical applications for MSK. I also have expertise in modeling radiation from the treatment machine for more accurate calculation of the dose distribution in the body.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering at Seoul National University and my master’s and PhD degrees in Medical Physics at the Catholic University of Korea. After working as a faculty medical physicist at the National Cancer Center in Korea for more than four years, I relocated to the United States for residency training at Baylor Scott and White Health in Texas. I then worked as a faculty medical physicist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Shadyside in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I acquired ample experience in stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy procedures and treatment planning.

I am a licensed and registered medical physicist in both New York and New Jersey, and I am certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
