Education

BS in mathematics and physics, Morehouse College; PhD in nuclear engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology

I am an assistant attending physicist with expertise in applying high-performance radiation transport algorithms to the analysis of occupational radiation safety and epidemiology. The overarching goal of my research is to deepen our understanding of exposure to ionizing radiation and its subsequent adverse health effects. My research has primarily focused on the unintentional intake of radionuclides along with external exposure to radionuclides and radiation-generating devices. Additionally, my research involves quantifying the risk associated with non-acute radiation exposures by supporting the epidemiology of large cohorts of occupationally exposed radiation workers through historical internal and external dose reconstruction.

Disclosures

Doctors and faculty members often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community.

MSK requires doctors and faculty members to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public.

Michael Bellamy discloses the following relationships and financial interests:

  • National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
