Flow Cytometry Core Facility

The Flow Cytometry (FC) Core offers centralized expertise and instrumentation in flow cytometry and cell sorting to investigators of the Cancer Center. The extensive user support includes a) assisting in planning, executing, and analyzing flow cytometry experiments; b) daily instrument setup, maintenance, quality control and performance monitoring; c) facilitating instrument access through implementation of adequate polices with an easy and reliable scheduling system; d) offering state-of-the-art software site licenses for basic to advanced multiparameter flow cytometry data analysis; and e) comprehensive individualized training and class-based education options. Instrument based-services include: operator-assisted cell sorting in two multiparametric FACSAria high-speed cell sorters, two 5-laser spectral enabled FACSymphony S6 and one 5-laser FACSDiscover S8 with imaging and spectral capabilities; user-operated cell sorting in three multiparametric FACSAria cell sorters and two SH800 chip-based cell sorters; and user-operated analysis on three high-end LSR Fortessa analyzers, two 5-laser spectral Auroras and one 5-laser spectral ID7000. Altogether, the availability of high-end instrumentation which include imaging and spectral flow cytometry capabilities, as well as highly qualified staff with years of expertise, provide investigators of the Center access to highly purified cell populations and the possibility to characterize cell subsets involved in the processes of tumor development, evolution, metastasis and acquired therapeutic resistance, among other contexts that can ultimately lead to improved cancer diagnosis and therapy.
