Dr. Ashok Shaha treats head and neck cancers at MSK, with expertise in thyroid and parathyroid cancer, focusing on hormone management and patients’ quality of life.
I was raised in India during a time when it was part of our culture for family to guide the career paths of their children. My older brothers recognized my passion for caring for others. They inspired me to become a doctor, and I became the first one in my family.
Hello, I’m Dr. Ashok Shaha, head and neck surgical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I care for patients with head and neck cancers, and I have a special interest in thyroid cancer.
At MSK, we work as a team of experts in different specialties to give you the best care. We explore all available options, including the delicate balance of hormone management. We want to give you enough therapy to control or eliminate your cancer, but also not too much, so that you can have the best quality of life.
My wife and I have two sons and a circle of close-knit friends. We all love to travel and explore other cultures while I lecture around the world. I enjoy learning best practices from physician leaders in my field, and to be able to offer you the best and most relevant emerging treatments from around the world.
I’m so proud of the excellent care we deliver at MSK. You can feel confident that we’ll take time to get to know you, your family, and your goals, so we can pull together the right team of experts to see you through your cancer journey.
