Meet Kenny Yu: Neurosurgeon at MSK

Dr. Kenny Yu uses state-of-the-art neurosurgery at MSK to improve outcomes, recovery, and quality of life for people with primary and metastatic brain tumors.

I was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Australia, and received my education and training in England, and also spent time in a rural hospital in Tanzania before completing my training here in the US. As a result of moving around so much, I truly enjoy connecting with people, especially my patients and their loved ones.

Hi, I'm Dr. Kenny Yu, a neurosurgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. When it comes to caring for people with cancer, the world looks to MSK for the latest in cancer care, and the most innovative discoveries and there really is nowhere else I’d rather be.

I know you're putting tremendous faith in me to recommend the best care plan for you, and I don’t take that for granted. This is very much a joint decision-making process.

As a neurosurgeon scientist, I’m able to explore the biology of the very tumors I treat.

And as a surgeon, I have access to the latest technologies to perform procedures that improve patient lives and outcomes.

As a patient at MSK, you won’t just have one doctor. You’ll have many. One of the best things about MSK is how closely we work as a team. We coordinate our efforts closely to ensure your safety and minimize your side effects to get the best outcome.

Outside of work, I enjoy coaching my son’s sports team, teaching my daughter swimming, and listening to my wife play the piano. My goal is to help you create more beautiful moments with those you love.

Having lived and worked in a lot of different places, I can say that MSK is a special place, and it’s where I would want anyone I love to be cared for if they were facing cancer.
