Dr. Prasad Adusumilli treats lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other chest cancers at MSK, combining advanced surgery with research-driven therapies, including CAR T-cell immunotherapy.

As a surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I get to effect change for my patients every day.

Hi, I'm Dr. Prasad Adusumilli and I'm a thoracic surgical oncologist. I also serve as the Deputy Chief of Thoracic Surgery, and Director of MSK's Mesothelioma Program, the largest in the world.

As both a surgeon and researcher, I treat lung cancer, mesothelioma, and other cancers in the chest, while also working to develop new, more effective treatments through world-leading research.

Our approach to surgery is guided by the biology of the tumor itself, which often tells us more about your outcome than just its size, location, or stage. Our advanced techniques make surgery not just effective but safe, even for people over 80, many of whom are told there is nothing more that can be done.

I’m proud of the breakthrough research we have done in CAR T-cell therapy, which strengthen your body’s own immune system to fight your cancer. This type of immunotherapy lets us remove your immune cells, reprogram them to better target cancer, and then return them to your body – giving you a stronger defense against lung cancer. With this approach, we aim to cure our patients over the long term.

Our team delivers expert, compassionate care, and we’ll always be in your corner. As we work to change global cancer treatment around the world, our focus will always remain on you.
