Dr. Sarat Chandarlapaty treats breast cancer at MSK, combining targeted therapies with research-driven innovations to offer care aligned with each patient’s priorities.
From early on, I was drawn to the idea that biology was more than just fascinating; it could be used to change lives. In medical school, watching patients face cancer while studying cancer in the laboratory helped me realize this is precisely where biology meets humanity.
Hi, I’m Dr. Sarat Chandarlapaty, a breast medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I care for patients in Manhattan and also lead a research lab focused on understanding why some breast cancers respond to treatment for a long period of time, while others do not.
I’m driven by curiosity and wanting to innovate new treatments for my patients, and as part of that, I’m here to listen to you. No two people experience cancer the same way. My goal is to align every decision with your values and priorities, whether we’re discussing standard treatment plans or innovative clinical trials available to you.
At MSK, we study aggressive forms of breast cancer to understand how they grow and why they may become resistant to therapy. By analyzing those tumor tissues and translating those insights into new, targeted treatments, we’re not just following the science, we’re shaping it.
Breast cancer is a complex disease, but it’s also one filled with so much progress and possibility. I want you to feel informed, supported, and seen, every step of the way.
