Dr. Shari Goldfarb provides expert, compassionate care for young women with breast cancer at MSK, supporting their fertility, body image, career, and other concerns.
After navigating breast cancer care for my sister-in-law in her 30s, I realized that we should streamline care and better support our young patients. This experience shaped my perspective as both a doctor and caregiver, and led me to developing a program just for them.
Hi, I’m Dr. Shari Goldfarb, a breast medical oncologist and Director of the Young Women with Breast Cancer Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
I’ve dedicated my career to building a program that successfully treats women ages 45 and younger with breast cancer, and guides them through the unique challenges they face around their family, career, education, and personal life.
We provide educational and emotional support, as well as coordinated care here. This program also improves the research we’re doing into why breast cancer develops in younger women, how to improve breast cancer outcomes, and quality of life both during treatment and throughout survivorship.
In addition to providing world-class, evidence-based cancer treatment for all patients, I also care deeply about how every medical decision will impact your life. We’ll have conversations that address your most personal questions as a young woman: preserving fertility, reducing hair loss, supporting intimacy, dating after a cancer diagnosis, and maintaining a positive body image. We offer wellness programs, integrative medicine, and female sexual medicine to help support you through this process.
My goal is to be your doctor, your partner, and your advocate.
