Dr. Yelena Janjigian treats esophageal, stomach, and other GI cancers at MSK, providing compassionate, personalized care and access to clinical trials.
Hi, I’m Dr. Yelena Janjigian, Chief of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I oversee a large team of physicians with expertise in the full spectrum of GI cancers. My clinical and research focus is in esophageal and stomach cancer.
When I trained here as a resident nearly two decades ago, I knew this was where I wanted to build my career. There’s simply no place like MSK, where scientific innovation and compassionate care are seamlessly integrated.
From day one, my clinical team and I will guide you and take care of you. We have deep experience in treating gastrointestinal cancers, and we are also advancing the science that shapes future therapies.
In addition to leading clinical trials, I direct laboratory research focused on understanding tumor biology, resistance to immunotherapy, and immune response, particularly in esophageal and stomach cancer. Many of our patients are among the first to benefit from these advances through clinical trials we design and lead.
I came to this country as an Armenian refugee. I know firsthand about the power of determination and hope. I will guide you through every decision that needs to be made, and I will listen to what matters most to you. Your priorities will define our success, and we will tackle every challenge together.
