Get to Know Me

I am a board-certified medical geneticist and family medicine physician who specializes in caring for people with a genetic susceptibility to cancer.

As founder and Medical Director of the MSK-CATCH (Comprehensive Assessment, Treatment, and Prevention of Cancers with Hereditary Predispositions) program, I provide long-term surveillance to cancer survivors with hereditary cancer syndromes and care to patients who do not have cancer but have an increased risk of developing cancer based on their genetic profiles.

I also have a separate genetics clinic where I provide clinical counseling and genetic testing to people who might have an inherited predisposition to cancer.

My research focuses on identifying people with Lynch syndrome based on their tumor molecular profiles and developing novel biomarkers for the cancers associated with this hereditary cancer syndrome, as proven, effective screening methods do not currently exist for many of them. Because of my research contributions, I received the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Research Grant Award in 2022, the American Cancer Society’s Clinician Scientist Development Award in 2021, and Conquer Cancer®, the ASCO Foundation’s Allen S. Lichter, MD, Endowed Merit Award in 2018.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

MSK requires doctors, faculty members, and leaders to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
