Get to Know Me

I am a surgical pathologist with a focus on the gastrointestinal tract and the liver. At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), personal consultation cases are sent to me for expert opinion. These typically involve the diagnosis of dysplasia (precancerous cells) in patients with Barrett’s esophagus or inflammatory bowel disease (i.e., ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), the interpretation of colon polyps suspected to be cancerous, and unusual polyps and polyposis syndromes.

The research that I conduct mainly centers on the study of colorectal and esophageal cancers and their precursors. My recent work has also described patterns of GI and liver toxicity in patients with cancer who are receiving immunotherapy as part of their treatment plan.

I am the past President of the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society and am keenly interested in teaching and promoting the study of GI and liver pathology both nationally and internationally.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a pathologist, which is a doctor who uses a microscope to make a diagnosis from cell and tissue samples. I analyze these samples to learn the cause and effects of a health issue.
