Arlyn Apollo, MD, MPH
Genitourinary Medical Oncologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

I see patients at MSK Nassau, where we offer compassionate, state-of-the-art cancer treatment for people who wish to receive MSK care closer to home. We provide the same superior care that is offered at MSK in Manhattan. Our team of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons collaborates closely with our colleagues in Manhattan. We regularly participate in academic conferences to stay up-to-date on the most recent advances in the fast-paced field of cancer care.
Receiving a cancer diagnosis is possibly the most frightening time in a person’s life. I hope that patients and their families are slightly less anxious after meeting with me. Knowing what to expect may help relieve some of the fear that comes with treatment for cancer.
I strive to achieve the best possible outcome for each person in my care. This includes maintaining or improving their quality of life at all stages. It is incredibly rewarding to get to know patients and their caregivers, to understand their individual needs and preferences, and to address their medical, social, and emotional concerns.
Patients often want to know about side effects and whether their daily life and activities will change while they are undergoing cancer treatment. I try to keep people doing the things they enjoy. If they are unable, we may need to make adjustments in our care plan so that they can go back to these activities. It’s important for patients to know that they are not alone. We have a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, support staff, social workers, and nutritionists ready to help them.
It is exciting to see people with cancer benefit from ongoing clinical trials. These studies can lead to new treatments. For example, immunotherapy has changed the way we treat many types of cancer. When appropriate, my team and I enroll patients in clinical trials at MSK Nassau or in trials that are available only at MSK in Manhattan. MSK Nassau and the other regional sites offer many of the clinical trials that are available at MSK in Manhattan, and we expect these offerings to continue to grow.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children, and I am an avid runner.
