James K. Park, MD, PhD
Interventional Radiologist
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Associate Attending Radiologist
I am an interventional radiologist who uses image-guided tools to diagnose various diseases, including but not limited to cancer. I am trained in adult interventional radiology (IR), but also have expertise in pediatric IR. Throughout my career as an interventional radiologist, I have treated patients of all ages, ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
At Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I am part of the Interventional Radiology Service and mostly see patients in the inpatient setting but will also follow up as needed on an outpatient basis. I first became interested in the field of radiology — and specifically, vascular IR — when I was a medical student. I have always been a visually oriented person and a fan of technology, and as such, radiology in image-guided procedures turned out to be a perfect fit for me.

My primary priority is providing quality patient care. My goal is for each patient and their loved ones to be confident that they are receiving the best care possible. To that end, I like to reassure patients and their families that although a procedure might be considered “routine,” I realize that being in the hospital and undergoing a medical treatment is not always “routine” for the patient. It is important to me that my patients not only know, but also feel, that their comfort and safety is our number one objective. At MSK, there is an emphasis on a team-oriented approach that involves physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, technologists, anesthesiologists, and pathologists, among other specialists. We strive to offer each patient multidisciplinary care and know that there is truly no “I” in “IR”; it takes a small village to make a treatment plan come together.
Prior to joining MSK, I worked as an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (from 2015 to 2020). I have been practicing for nearly a decade and estimate that I perform about 1,000 to 1,200 diverse procedures, major and minor, in a given year. In addition to my clinical work, I teach residents and fellows in MSK’s Clinical Interventional Oncology program, where I have the privilege of helping to further the field of interventional radiology.
As a native New Yorker, it is a great honor for me to work with the team at MSK and to serve our patients and community. Outside of work, my wife and young son help to keep me grounded. Fun facts: I am a New York Yankees fan, and my favorite players growing up were Craig Nettles, Dave Winfield, and Don Mattingly. I look forward to meeting you and working with you to achieve your healthcare goals and objectives.
