Get to Know Me

I am a board-certified prosthodontist who has special training in creating prosthetics to replace missing tissue in the jaws and face. I have been in practice for more than 20 years.

I have experience in caring for people with cancer and those who have complex restorative or other maxillofacial prosthetic needs. I work closely with Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Ophthalmology Department to create prostheses for the eyes.

As a member of the MSK Kids team, I create prosthetic eyes for children treated for an eye cancer called retinoblastoma. It gives me great satisfaction to be involved in the care of newborns, toddlers, and children who have lost one or both eyes to this disease and to help them feel whole.

When I first meet with patients, I try to put them at ease and help them feel comfortable, despite the anxiety they may be experiencing. I help them make treatment decisions regarding function and appearance. I listen closely to their concerns, explain each treatment option, and assure them that I will do everything I can to help them maintain their quality of life.

I work closely with the head and neck and plastic and reconstructive surgery teams to plan for complicated and complex surgeries that involve the placement of dental implants. These implants help with the placement of a surgical obturator, which is a prosthesis that helps fill a gap in the mouth after removing a tumor from a person’s mouth. They can also help after dental extractions.

After completing an implant fellowship at NYU College of Dentistry in 2012, I have been placing dental implants for patients in my private practice, and at Memorial Hospital. Since 2019, I have placed implants in native jaws and reconstructed jaws following ablative surgery by head and neck surgeons, and reconstructive surgery by plastic surgeons.

In my research, I am studying how we can make use of digital technology in patient care. I am also interested in improving the delivery of dental care to people with significant functional and cosmetic needs.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a maxillofacial (max-ill-o-FAY-shul) prosthodontist (pros-thoh-DON-tist) at MSK. This is a dental specialist who has special training in treating problems of the face, jaw, and nearby soft tissue. They are trained in using a prothesis (pros-THEE-sis), an artificial piece that replaces a body part. It's also called a prosthetic.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
