Get to Know Me

As a maxillofacial prosthodontist, I am a dental specialist with expertise in restoring and rehabilitating areas of the maxillofacial region that are affected by cancer treatment, trauma, or congenital conditions.

While a significant number of the dental and oral rehabilitations I perform involve dental implants, there are situations where dental implants are not possible. Therefore, I also take pride in providing treatment fabrication of traditional removable prosthetics, including obturators, partial dentures, or conventional complete dentures.

Dental prosthetics exist in a range of modalities, and there are a number of treatment options for those who have had resections of the maxillofacial region and who may be missing a significant number of teeth or portion of the jaws. I work closely with patients and their families to determine what the best option may be to achieve the patient’s functional and cosmetic goals.

I also work with the Plastic Surgery Service, the other maxillofacial prosthodontists, and the anaplastologist (medical artist) in our service to create facial prosthetics for patients who have lost external anatomic structures of the head (ears, eyes, and nose). Additionally, I provide supportive care to manage oral side effects of cancer treatment, as well as provide pretreatment screenings for radiation, chemotherapy, and various types of transplant procedures.

My research interests include the long-term assessments of dental implants and their associated prosthetics, dental materials, applications of digital technology, and the long-term oral health of various populations.

Prior to becoming a dentist, I trained in classical music, and to this day I still enjoy being an active patron of the performing arts, of which there are plentiful opportunities here in New York City.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a maxillofacial (max-ill-o-FAY-shul) prosthodontist (pros-thoh-DON-tist) at MSK. This is a dental specialist who has special training in treating problems of the face, jaw, and nearby soft tissue. They are trained in using a prothesis (pros-THEE-sis), an artificial piece that replaces a body part. It's also called a prosthetic.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

MSK requires doctors, faculty members, and leaders to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
