Michael May, MD
We post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

Get to Know Me
I am a board-certified medical oncologist who has special training in the treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. I see patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) Westchester. Most of the patients I see have pancreatic cancer.
I am honest and direct with my patients, and always advocate for their best interests. I give them as much information as they want about the cancer diagnosis and treatment options. As an active clinical researcher, it is important to me to be aware of the newest treatment options in gastrointestinal cancer care. This includes the most promising clinical trials that may be right for a particular patient.
My uncle and grandfather both had pancreatic cancer. Watching my uncle go through treatment made me appreciate how much work was needed to improve treatment options. Working as a gastrointestinal oncologist at MSK allows me to treat patients with the most effective therapies and work with leaders in the field to improve the treatments available for these diseases. I develop and lead clinical trials studying the next generation of treatments and work with laboratory scientists to understand how we can develop better treatments.
I am a proud father of two children. I am also an avid runner and have run several marathons. I was born and raised in New York City but currently live in Connecticut with my family. I enjoy spending time outdoors, including in the Catskills and Adirondacks.
I'm a gastrointestinal (GAS-troh-in-TES-tih-nul) medical oncologist, which is a cancer doctor who specializes in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. This includes anal, colorectal, esophageal, gastric (stomach), liver, and pancreatic cancers. We also treat GI stromal tumors and neuroendocrine tumors.
