Get to Know Me

I am a medical oncologist and hematologist who specializes in blood and bone marrow transplants, also known as stem cell transplants. I treat people with various types of blood cancers, including acute leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

I see patients at Memorial Hospital and at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Blood cancer can significantly affect a person’s life and navigating treatment options can be overwhelming. While my primary focus is treating blood cancers, my top priority is ensuring that patients fully understand their treatment options so we can work together to make well-informed decisions.

My research focuses on improving the outcomes of bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy, while reducing their adverse effects in patients with blood cancers. In one of our studies, we discovered that in animal models, low-dose radiation therapy enhances the efficacy of CAR T cell therapy without increasing toxicity. This lays the foundation for testing this promising concept in clinical trials.

In another research project, through multiple studies, we developed a novel diagnostic tool to detect thrombotic microangiopathy, a common complication of bone marrow transplantation. This condition arises from a rare immune system disturbance that activates platelets, leading to the formation of harmful blood clots.

Outside of work, I am an avid table tennis player. I also love to hike in the Fall and go biking in Central Park.
