Get to Know Me

As a hematologist-oncologist, I aim to provide the best possible care to all patients who could benefit from transplantation and cellular therapy. With clinical expertise in geriatrics and supportive care, I take pride in caring for older patients (patients over 60 years of age) to maximize treatment benefits, minimize side effects, and to preserve their function and quality of life in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK).

I was first driven to seek a cure for blood cancers many years ago when my translational research work in acute promyelocytic leukemia combined two targeted therapies to induce long-lasting disease remission. Since then, I have come to appreciate the power of cellular immunotherapy in advanced blood cancers. Now, my goal is to use these therapies to achieve a cure while minimizing toxicities, especially for older patients.

As a clinician researcher, I conduct clinical trials that incorporate geriatric assessment/management and novel age-friendly therapeutics in transplantation and cellular therapy for older patients with blood cancers. Additionally, I collaborate with colleagues in geriatric oncology, translational geroscience (the study of the biology of aging), and supportive care to design and test strategies to improve patient outcomes.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, travel, and attending sporting events.

What I Do at MSK

I'm a bone marrow transplant specialist, which is a doctor with special training in bone marrow transplants.

A cellular therapy specialist is a doctor with special training in using cell therapies to treat health conditions such as cancer. Therapies can include chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy.
