Roberto Carlos Valentin, MD
Radiologist & Nuclear Medicine Physician
My Role at MSKWe post reviews for MSK healthcare providers who have at least 30 patient experience surveys completed. If you do not see reviews for a provider, it may be because they do not yet have enough survey responses, or the provider may not be part of the group of healthcare providers included in the survey.
Only outpatient providers are included in the survey. Healthcare providers who only work in the hospital or in urgent care are not included in the survey. Pathologists or researchers who do not provide direct care to patients do not have reviews.

About Me
- Assistant Attending Radiologist
I am a board-certified radiologist and nuclear medicine physician with a subspecialty in breast imaging. I chose to develop a career in oncology due to its complexity and the need for motivated, dedicated physicians with different backgrounds and expertise to work together to tackle this disease.

As a breast radiologist, I use a variety of imaging modalities, such as mammography, ultrasound, and MRI, to screen patients for early signs of breast cancer. I also perform imaged-guided breast procedures, such as biopsies and preoperative lesion localizations. I have always been intrigued by how we can image and detect different types of cancer based on their molecular composition and physiology; this is why I decided to pursue additional training in nuclear medicine. Beyond my duties as a breast radiologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I provide interpretation of PET studies using different radiotracers to help detect cancers and assess their response to treatment.
When seeing patients as a breast imager, I make sure that my patients understand why I am recommending either a short-term follow-up or a biopsy. If I am suggesting the latter, I make it a point to briefly summarize how the procedure is performed, so my patients know what to expect. I strive to paint a clear picture of the plan leading up to the patient’s next visit at our radiology clinic. I enjoy my profession and appreciate that it allows for development of the patient-physician relationship. During the times when I must give a new cancer diagnosis, I reassure my patients that they are not alone in this journey; I and an entire team of amazing physicians are with them every step of the way.
A radiologist is a doctor with special training in using imaging to diagnose and treat disease. Imaging includes X-rays, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
