Get to Know Me
I am an anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I have dedicated my career to improving the quality of life for people with cancer through better pain management.
My clinical focus is caring for patients with cancer, but I also conduct research to advance pain treatment. I’ve published studies on treatment approaches like acupuncture, nerve blocks, and intrathecal pain pumps. My goal is to quantify optimal opioid doses and predict patient needs.
Over the course of my career, I have developed tools to standardize and enhance pain care by leveraging technology. These include web-based calculators, databases, and automated alert systems. I aim to streamline care, boost safety, and get patients the relief they need.
I bring a unique background to my work — I have degrees in electrical engineering, medicine, and public health. This diverse experience allows me to creatively approach healthcare problems.
I find the intersection of technology and clinical decision-making fascinating. My engineering mindset gives me a different perspective on improving care through research and innovation. I am driven to improve patients’ lives by optimizing pain management.
