Get to Know Me

I am a medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of cancers of the head and neck. This includes cancers of the mouth, tongue, nasal cavity and sinus, salivary gland, throat, and thyroid, as well as non-melanoma skin cancers.

I work with a multi-disciplinary team of radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to all patients who come to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. When patients visit us, they are often concerned about the side effects and complications of treatment and wonder how they could affect their quality of life, should they experience them.

I make every effort to ensure my patients are well informed, not only about the benefits of each treatment option, but also about the possible risks and side effects. This open communication is valuable because I want patients to feel comfortable addressing any side effects they might experience. It also helps us to work together as a team to select the approach that best aligns with their goals regarding treatment and quality of life. It is important to me that my patients are educated on their diagnoses and feel their treatment plan is consistent with their individual wishes.

In addition to caring for patients, I conduct research and clinical trials that seek to translate emerging scientific knowledge into novel therapies. This includes evaluating new treatments that enhance the immune system’s recognition, surveillance, and destruction of cancer cells (immunotherapy) and treatments that target specific characteristics and/or mutations of the tumor (targeted therapy). I am also studying molecular markers of cancer (biomarkers) that can be used to detect recurrence earlier and/or to guide treatment.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

MSK requires doctors, faculty members, and leaders to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
