Get to Know Me

I am a neurologist with expertise in treating pain and other symptoms related to cancer and its treatment. In my outpatient clinic and in the hospital, I specialize in supportive care to alleviate distress for patients and families facing cancer, guide patients in communicating their values and preferences, and help them locate resources for support in their own communities.

After diagnosing the causes of patients’ pain and distress, I direct their supportive treatment, which can include pain medication, radiation therapy, invasive interventions, physical therapy and psychosocial support. I work closely with oncologists and specialists from other disciplines to ensure that our patients can achieve the best quality of life throughout and after their cancer treatment.

I also supervise and teach clinical fellows training in MSK’s Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.

My research relates to pharmacological pain management and treatment of neuropathic pain. Together with colleagues at MSK, I participate in clinical research projects focusing on pain and symptom management and quality of life for patients in all phases of cancer including survivorship.

Disclosures

Members of the MSK Community often work with pharmaceutical, device, biotechnology, and life sciences companies, and other organizations outside of MSK, to find safe and effective cancer treatments, to improve patient care, and to educate the health care community. These activities outside of MSK further our mission, provide productive collaborations, and promote the practical application of scientific discoveries.

MSK requires doctors, faculty members, and leaders to report (“disclose”) the relationships and financial interests they have with external entities. As a commitment to transparency with our community, we make that information available to the public. Not all disclosed interests and relationships present conflicts of interest. MSK reviews all disclosed interests and relationships to assess whether a conflict of interest exists and whether formal COI management is needed.
