The Supportive Care Service, led by Craig D. Blinderman, MD, MA, is comprised of physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, social workers, and chaplains who together provide specialized medical care for people living with cancer and their caregivers in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Our faculty have expertise in the management of patients with multiple complex medical problems, as well as patients who are close to end of life.
Our clinical mission is to provide relief from the symptoms of cancer and stress of the illness while improving quality of life for both patients and their families. We are committed to compassionate, patient-centered medicine that emphasizes open communication and evidence-based clinical reasoning. We are honored to play an important role helping cancer specialists at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center provide the highest-quality, most cutting-edge cancer care available anywhere.

Our providers work especially closely with the Pain Service, of MSK’s Department of Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine, and with colleagues from nursing and social work.
Training and Education
In addition to providing direct patient support, the Supportive Care Service sponsors an ACGME-accredited fellowship program that enrolls six new fellows each year, and a subspecialty track in hospice and palliative care that is part of MSK’s Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Oncology Fellowship.
